Unprecedented changes in international shipping have led to the need to establish a dedicated Innovation and Energy Transition Team. The dedicated Innovation and Energy Transition Team will work to tackle challenges facing the international shipping world to transform to net-zero GHG emissions in line with the IMO GHG Emissions Reduction Strategy with the goal to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.
International Shipping’s Transition to Net-Zero GHG Emissions
Since 2016 the Liberian Registry has supported decarbonization in international shipping by working in close collaboration with shipyards, design companies, classification societies, engine manufacturers, shipowners / managers, and other key stakeholders. Innovative ship designs, new technologies, and alternative fuels have been realized through our partnership on joint industry projects (JIPs) and joint development projects (JDPs). Having participated in more than 35 projects over the past three years alone.
