IACS UI's not applied by Liberia

IACS UI's not applied by Liberia

MSC 110 concluded that UIs submitted by IACS as information documents, or for noting only, should simply be recorded in the Committee reports.
Liberia–Recognized Organization (RO) agreement states:
  •  Copies of any interpretation must be provided to the Administration for review and acceptance before implementation.
  • IACS UIs approved by IMO shall be applied unless the Administration instructs otherwise.
Therefore:
  • Any IACS UI submitted to IMO but not approved (only noted) must be submitted by RO’s to the Liberian Administration for acceptance, before application to Liberian-flagged vessels.
  • Below is a list of IACS UIs not applied by Liberia for new-building ships.
IACS UI-SC 211: Protection of fuel oil tanks and designation of fore peak spaces (Rev.1 Sept 2024) for ships with keel laid on or after 1 January 2026
The Administration does not accept arrangements as shown in samples 3 and 4 of Figure 2 of UI SC211 where the bosun’s store is in the cargo area of an oil tanker.  The other arrangements are acceptable as is the rest of the UI.
